The course of study provides a research-oriented scientific degree that specifically qualifies a student for a career in the chemical or pharmaceutical industry, at a research institute or public-authority.
Fast and precise analytical methods are required in R&D, quality control, in production and in regulatory approval tasks of leading chemical and pharmaceutical companies. A wide range of analytical methods and techniques are required in order to determine which component is causative for specific defects, wrong tastes, slightly different mechanical behaviour, or faster discoloration. The more background knowledge and experience, the more conclusive the findings - a key to success in professional life.
Another important field of application is environmental monitoring. In order to trace the fate of man made compounds and assess their impact on the quality of ground and surface water, soils, plants and animals, we need to look beneath the surface. The knowledge required to conduct such kind of research work, which is needed in industry as well as in public services, is attained in our master programme.
